WHAT DOES MỘT, HAI, BA, DZÔ MEAN?
Một, hai, ba, dzô! (or just dzô!) is the most popular Vietnamese phrase for "cheers!" when you drink. The direct translation is "one, two, three, drink/go in” and is typically shouted as everyone raises their glasses to cheers then drink!
WHAT IS VINABEATS?
Vinabeats is a play on the term Vinahouse and beats. Vinahouse is a high-energy, fast-paced, Vietnamese electronic dance music subgenre, often includes remixes with Vietnamese-Pop or international hits.
ABOUT CHÚNG TA CÙNG NHAU:
Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau (We Are Together) is a Vietnamese-Edmonton non-profit dedicated to celebrating and preserving Vietnamese culture and heritage, increasing Vietnamese representation, and shaping Vietnamese-Canadian identity, together. We envision a future where Vietnamese-Edmonton feel more deeply connected with their culture and community. We are working to bridge generational gaps and explore generational identity through online and in-person events, education and other opportunities.
ABOUT THE U OF A VIETNAMESE STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION:
The Vietnamese Students' Association is an all inclusive student group located within the University of Alberta. The VSA strives to create a community of students and alumni centered around Vietnamese tradition and culture. They hope to cultivate an appreciation and understanding of the vibrant Vietnamese-Canadian culture through events, community, and volunteer opportunities. Additionally, the VSA hopes the community formed around VSA can help Vietnamese-Canadians explore their own identities and find what being Vietnamese means to them. In our increasingly homogeneous society, VSA pushes to preserve and practice our Vietnamese social customs and strengthen our cultural roots.
