Where We Came From (and where we go from here): A Vietnamese Art & Heritage Exhibit (May 2026)

Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau Vietnamese-Edmonton Cultural Society presents:

Where We Came From (and where we go from here): A Vietnamese Art & Heritage Exhibit, taking place May 8-June 6, 2026 during Asian Heritage Month.

This is Edmonton's only Vietnamese-centered Asian Heritage Month event.

Where We Came From (and where we go from here): A Vietnamese Art & Heritage Exhibit features community stories and reflections, portraits, art installations, immersive vignettes, and more cultural and heritage pieces designed to help both Vietnamese-Edmontonians and the broader public better understand and reflect on the Vietnamese-Edmonton story.

Through themes of migration, identity, family, resilience, and belonging, the exhibit invites visitors to connect with lived experiences that are deeply personal, while also widely relatable across communities.

The exhibit is an extension and upgrade from Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau’s November 2025 launch event, which intentionally served as an exhibit pilot, featuring some stories, portraits, and installations during a one-night pop-up.

About the Neighbourhood

Boyle Street is one of Edmonton’s oldest neighbourhoods- home to Boyle Street Plaza, Okîsikow (Angel) Way, Kinistinâw Park, Downtown Farmers Market, and Chinatown South. The neighbourhood borders the beautiful North Saskatchewan River Valley. Its western edge (97 Street) was once Edmonton’s downtown when the area was under the Hudson’s Bay Reserve Lands; after they were sold, development began and what we now know as downtown Edmonton was born. Boyle Street is walking distance from Edmonton’s Arts District with Royal Alberta Museum, Art Gallery of Alberta and more. It also is situated in close proximity to Little Italy and Chinatown North, excellent cultural destinations in our city. The community is diverse with residents from all walks of life. Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau looks forward to bringing more visitors to the Boyle Street community during the exhibit period, and to welcome Boyle residents to the exhibit!

About the Edmonton Community Foundation

The Edmonton Community Foundation strengthens the community by connecting donors to charities and causes that are important to them. Edmonton is full of passionate people dedicated to building a vibrant community. ECF supports this by encouraging innovation, visionary thinking, and leadership. We believe that with the right resources, it is possible to strengthen Edmonton’s community. That is why we have spent years building strong relationships with donors, charities, volunteers, and community leaders. These relationships help us identify trends and priority needs in our city. They also help us provide the right resources to the right people, projects, and places. Whether you’re looking for a student grant, funding for your charity’s latest project, or a trusted place to donate, ECF has what you need. After all, connecting people is what we do best.

About the Edmonton Downtown Business Association
